Cracks
Cracks in drywall, masonry, tile, or concrete can have many causes. New, widening, recurring, or diagonal cracks around openings deserve more attention when they occur with other symptoms.
Uneven floors
A floor that develops a localized dip or growing slope can justify investigation. Older homes may also have longstanding variation that is not active movement.
Doors and windows
Sticking openings can result from humidity, hardware, framing, or movement. Multiple openings changing in one area can be more informative than a single door.
Exterior separation
Gaps around brick, trim, siding, garage openings, or other exterior elements can be clues. Photograph changes over time.
What to do next
If several signs are developing, consider a foundation inspection or call to discuss local help.
